Latest Update from Singapore and Malaysia

Dear Family & Friends, I found a little time to give a brief update on what is happening with Tamara Cook and other ministry events of this immediate time. I am actually writing to you from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia once again! Why KL Malaysia??? Well, that has to do with Tamara and Charles Cook. Let me start with an update on Tamara... The surgery was successful in the repairs needed to relieve the pre-surgery pain and she is now undergoing daily therapy and has even begun walking a little bit each day! She is still in the hospital, but might be released as early as next week!

Wednesday Morning Report - 7/9/08

Greetings in the Lord this hot summer day.

Yep, this morning here in Athens we woke up to another hot summer day. It was 88 degrees already in Athens this morning and is expected to break 100 degrees this afternoon. It is hot. We hope it’s not as hot where you are.

It’s been another good week in the school here in Athens. We all seem a bit lonely this term, without the six of our students who graduated last month. The place seems kind of empty. Yet we are still diligent in our studies. We move towards our last final exams for this school year this upcoming week. I know the students always enjoy those. They really like the memory work.

This term we have really been enjoying our study in Biblical Leadership in the church. We have been taking an in-depth study of the qualifications of and the qualities needed for a man to be an elder in the church today. This is a study that I have been working on for several years and feel it is very needed in many of our churches today. We need to be developing good sound biblical leaders with the qualities and characteristics we see in Christ.

May 2008 Goracke & SIBI Singapore Newsletter

Dear Family & Friends,

FINALLY!!!... our first newsletter from Singapore! Due to no Internet connection yet at our apartment, I have had limited access to receiving and sending emails because we have spent most of this past week just getting settled into our home. There will be more to come!

Our love to you,

Translation Center Report: "I Totally Love This Job"

May 2008

When was the last time I sent out a Translation Center Progress Report and told EVERYONE how much I love the job that God has prepared for me? It has been too long.

My favorite scripture passage is Acts 17:24-27. Partially quoting it, Paul said: "The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth . . . and he determined the times set for MAN and the exact places where he should live."

Our first few days in Singapore

Dear Family & Friends,

It is Saturday night our time in Singapore and I just wanted to send out this quick update so you can report to the church you worship and serve with what is happening with the Goracke family.

We have been welcomed here with a "red carpet treatment" by many here. Jaydon & Shayla are still wrestling with the time changes, but are getting closer to sleeping through the night. This will make it easier on mom & dad when it happens too!

We signed a contract on our apartment this afternoon , but will not be able to move into it until this Friday at the earliest. We were excited to see it today! It will make a nice home for our family.

We have been staying with the Winston Chong family from the Pasir Panjang church. Winston serves as a deacon for the church as well as a board member for SIBI Singapore. He and all of his family have just blessed us with their warm hospitality.

Winston's wife, Hong Ngee, helped us to get our Singapore bank account set up on the first day we arrived here as well as helped us with preparations to use certain public transportation. Already we have gone out in exploration to get around by ourselves.

Wednesday Morning Report from Athens

Greetings in the Lord Dear Friends and Loved Ones,

We pray this finds you very well this Wednesday morning. It’s been awhile since we’ve written. You’ve probably thought we’ve dropped off the face of the planet.

We didn’t, we have just been traveling for awhile. We were back in the states visiting and enjoying time with your family as our youngest son Bryan graduated from York College on 10 May. We were excited to be there and spend time with him and enjoy the occasion of him passing this wonderful milestone in his life.

We also had the privilege of meeting his girl friend, Britney Ellis. She is a very sweet girl. She is also a student at York College studying Theater and History. We were wondering why Bryan wanted to wait awhile to continue his studies to be a Chiropractor. We think we understand now. It looks like he is waiting for a special young lady to finish her studies. Mom and Dad are wondering if there is an announcement in the offing. What do parents know?
