On The Road Again!

Submitted by dcswinford on Sat, 10/31/2009 - 17:55

Once again, God is allowing me to travel the globe. I am sitting at the DFW airport about to head to a flight to Miami and from there to Brazil.  This will be my second time attending the Pan-Am lectures and my first trip to Brazil, so I am understandably excited.  Last year, it was held in Quito, Ecuador where SIBI sent a mission team, and this year it is in Recife, Brazil where SIBI sent a mission team.  I am prepared to be amazed at what God is doing through the school, it's graduates and these mission families.  I feel blessed to be able to witness first hand what God has done.  I look forward not only to attending the lectures and talking about what Sunset is doing around the globe, but teaching a couple of days in the school in Recife.  Truitt will be joining me later and we will both be blessed to teach.

AIMers in Port Elizabeth

Submitted by dcswinford on Tue, 09/16/2008 - 10:51
I can't wait to get back to the USA, download my pictures and let you see a good picture of our Port Elizabeth, South Africa AIMers! What a thrill to visit them and see the incredible things that they are doing in the Kingdom!  They are working with school children, working in congregations, and so much more.  But look at the picture (I'll give you a second to look)... Does this look like the mission field to you??? Seriously. What a beautiful place.  They have great beaches, restaurants, and you can even get multiple English channels on TV! Of course, our AIMers get dirty feeding the hungry, serving orphans, assisting widows, teaching classes, working in the congregations, etc. It is still mission work and we should all be proud of them. Beautiful places are just as stained by sin as any other place and have just as many hidden dangers and trials.

In South Africa

Submitted by dcswinford on Sat, 09/13/2008 - 12:59

Greetings!  I have a good internet connection! I am in South Africa in a flat located in the Southern Africa Bible College building in Johannesburg. I now have internet, but no monkeys racing around in the trees above my head. I guess it's a fair trade off. I am taking good pictures and will share some with you upon my return. Tomorrow I head to Port Elizabeth to see our AIMers and then will be off to Botswana. What a blessing to be able to serve God this way!

The future for Malawi looks promising. I forsee an army of evangelistic Christian soldiers taking the region by storm. We witnessed baptisms, Bible studies, bicycles that were ridden to other nations on mission trips, and so much more!  It was an evangelistic thrill!  It revives my soul to see such a spirit of evangelism present in the local church. We have much to teach. We have much to learn.

On The Road Again

Submitted by dcswinford on Fri, 08/29/2008 - 22:26

It's that time again.  Time for another excursion to witness the great things that God is doing around the world and to participate as God opens doors.  It is amazing to see what Sunset is doing on the African continent.  It is such a blessing to serve at the Sunset International Bible Institute in the International Studies Division through our 57 ministry training schools.  Mark Samsill and I will be visiting preachers, teachers and ministry trainers in Malawi, Botswana and South Africa. Normally, this trip would also include Zambia, but I was able to meet with David French of the Mapepe Bible College while he was in Lubbock.  It should be a great opportunity.
