Since July of last year our second youngest daughter Deasha has been extremely involved in track. She trains 4 to 5 days out of the week for about four hours a day. Deasha started training in a 100 and a 200 meter run. After her first competition she took 4th over all in her age group, since then she added the long jump to her training. She has now competed in three different competitions, two here in Cuernavaca and one in Mexico City. Deasha took 4th the second time competing in Mexico City but has really improved since then. Her most recent competition Deasha took 3rd in the 100 meter run and 1st in the long jump. Many of the girls Deasha is competing against have been training for years, the girl that Deasha beat in the long jump had won a national championship before. Needless to say as a church and family we are very proud of her for her effort and accomplishments.

"how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you?" Jesus (Matthew 17:17)
In the last months we have had a roller coaster stressful time. These moments are expected. We prepared and got times set aside to be ready to encounter moments of doubt, fear, or even disorientation. The truth is that we are overconfident that our strategies are the answers to all these conflicts. Leon Sur has been under the leadership of elders that have done a good job. But all that was planted by the missionaries is not being done. In other words the church is falling apart slowly layer by layer. The reality of what God does in his church has to be objectively presented. Many times we are overly hopeful and our desire for things to move forward is not the reality the body lives.

A few years back I learned the phrase "What can we learn from this?" It is a question that has to be asked in ministry to have a student-like spirit. Jesus said: ""I am the true vine, and My Father is the vine dresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you." So we have to be willing to learn in every circumstance that Jesus prunes and takes away from our fruits. And this week we have learned that there is 'nothing' we can do to build his church. People are people. What can we say but to continue to bear fruit.

This week we celebrated our anniversary. The Lord has given us many years together in ministry. Our relationship was started while we both were learning how to be missionaries. It was a time to learn as apprentices but God was at work with more than we were expecting. When we see that in the last fourteen years we had our ups and downs we know that being in his presence is about holding on to his hand in love. We praise him for what he has done, and we cannot wait for another fourteen. Thanks Tana for your service and sacrifice in the Lord's work, and to be with me for so long when it has been hard, easy, fun, boring, etc.

Luis Hasbun has been a Christian for a little more than 11 years. He is quickly become one of our strongest leaders. This Sunday he preach an awesome sermon about perseverance. Of ll the people who could understand perseverance he has done just what God wants him to do. The have been many time in Luis’s walk that it appeared that those old habits were going to get the best of him and his family but through perseverance he is now becoming a man who God is using in the lives of other.
His sermon is the embodiment of his life. Here are the three points in his sermon and how God has helped him through perseverance. 1. Perseverance is important to succeed in life. Luis’ first job was a salesman. He took a small route selling for Nestle coffee and turn it into a mayor revenue generator for that company.

Prayer Partners,
I want to apologize for my newsletter being so late. Things were really intense while my teammates where on their furloughs. At one point I was averaging three personal Bible Studying, my preacher class, teaching the small group, preaching each Sunday, Spanish class, and still finding one evening to spend with the family, and one evening with my wife. I promise my lack of communication was not a matter of laziness. Everyone is back and things are finally back to normal (whatever that is). I highly value my prayer partners and supports and believe they must know how things are going here in Cuernavaca, Mexico. In the end God is good and He did many things through all this business. Please open, read, and pray for the things you find inside our newsletter. Thank you for your support of God's mission in Cuernavaca, Mexico.
