Ron has commissioned me to write from my perspective an account of this next part of our adventure. On Tuesday morning we were driven to the bus terminal in Naga. That would be the easiest part of the day. The “highways” between Naga and Santo Tomas are bumpy and winding with a lot of stop and go and wait for all the small vehicles, trucks and road work. The bus seating is designed for small Philippine people. Therefore, Ron’s knees touched the seat in front of him the entire way. Mine did as well because of the seat in front of me being reclined. We were VERY appreciative of the two stops during the 8 hr. journey. We are more thankful now for the easier modes of transport we usually have. The countryside is covered in rice where there is an open space and banana and coconut trees everywhere else. The sights were beautiful and it was inspiring to see the people as we passed.

After a long journey and a short night in Manila we have arrived in Naga City. It certainly has been a place of Mabuhay…Welcome! Our journey began with the long flight from San Francisco to Manila via Seoul, Korea. We landed in Manila at midnight and got a quick 5 hours sleep before heading here to Naga City. Naga is the southernmost school our four in Luzon (the North Island of the three major island groups in the Philippines). It is a place of great beauty and fertile farm land. They grow mostly rice and plant and harvest it the old fashioned way…with hands and plows pulled by water buffalo. The Bicol region (like our counties) is also home to many volcanoes and mountainous areas.

Dear Friends, Family & Supporters,
I hope and pray that God's blessings be with each and everyone of you during this new year. You know how American's are always making resolutions that they very seldom keep, but I am making one that with God's strength I can carry it through even for the next several resolutions. And that is to keep on keeping on Christ and the children are what keep me going.
There is so much going on and I am so busy trying to get everything set up for Tuesday when we start our new classes for the school that I am falling way behind.. And to my sorrow this afternoon I found a major error in my paperwork that is causing me to have to go back to square one and review each page againl. I know you have no idea what I am talking about so I will briefly fill you in. The program we are using TPR (Total Physicial Response), I have in my head but the guys working with me cannot read my mind and I cannot be in 3 classes at one time so I am trying to put it all on paper so they have a guide line to follow. Also, it is a tool they can use in the process of better learning the English.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The attached file is the Mission Indonesia report for December.
My wife has received a diagnosis of stage 3B cervical cancer and is starting to undergo chemo and radiation treatment. I explain more fully in the newsletter. We would appreciate it if you would lift her name Lusi Bolt up before the Father to intercede on her behalf.

Dear Ones,
You may have been following the news concerning flooding in Thailand. More than 300 people died in the flood. 28 provinces are under the water. The pictures of people swimming to get food, water and help are common in the country. All the hospitals in the afflicted areas had to move all the patients to hospitals in other provinces. Many Industrial Parks are flooded. The estimation for the lost is well over 100,000,000,000 Baht.
At this point, the water from the North is reaching Bangkok. Also, it rains is coming down very hard at my house. The sea level will reach the highest point in two days. The water right in front of my house is now more than three feet deep. They expected the water level here will reach six feet. It means that the water on the first floor of my house could be four feet deep. Today, young people from BSLI and RCC came to help me move the furniture from the first floor up to the second floor. The dining table and kitchen items are too heavy to move.
