Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Happy New Year! Praise God for watching over us this past year. The Westside and Columbia Heights congregation have been working together to make a change in our local history. We are steadily moving one rock at a time. Step by step, we are improving and getting closer to our goal. Our goal is to build a strong, sound New Testament church of Christ that can worship in unity. The members of both congregations have been getting along together very well. We are worshiping together in harmony as one large body. We’ve been able to see that even when two very different groups get together to do God’s work, that we are not very different. With one common goal, no problem is too difficult to overcome.
On Wedsnesday evening a good friend of mine who is the assoicate minister of the Eureka, CA church suffered a stroke. Please pray for Kerry Glavich and his wife MaryJean and the rest of the family. He is unable to speak but has some use of his right limbs. The obstruction was in the left carodit artery. He is currently in intensive care at St Joseph Hospital in Eureka. The doctors have him in a 48-hour watch to determine how to extend care for him since they do not know the exact time of the stroke or how it progress initally. The do not know what permanent damage has resulted.
Please put the Glavich family in your prayers and pass this request to all you know.

How do you see God? How do you picture, view, imagine, etc...
Do you see God as this big police officer in the sky, waiting to pull you over for reckless living? Maybe He has set up a trap to catch you, a "sting" to arrest you for your sinfulness and shame you into being a better Christian.
Do you see God as a wish-fulfilling Genie? Running to Him in prayer, during times of crisis.
Speaking of crisis, maybe you view the Almighty as some kind of hostage negotiator...
SO you give Him your list of demands, the things that you are bargaining for before you will set your heart free to Him.
Maybe He is that old guy who lives on your block, you know the one...He knows about everybody else on the block. He is always going from house to house, always with some crazy idea about how you could better mow your grass, raise your kids, drive your car, etc...
Perhaps you see God as this ancient powerful man imaged creature, sitting on a throne, waiting for the alarm to go off so He can destroy the world and all the sinful people?
