Where in the world are the Phelps?

Paul & Dana Phelps graduated from SIBI in 1997.  After working for 5 years in Paducah, KY with the Lone Oak Church of Christ they moved to Knoxville, TN.

We have been working with the Farragut Church of Christ in Knoxville, TN for 7 years.  In those 7 years Paul has been the Outreach/Involvement Minister.

Palmer Family Update

"Howdy Ya'll..."

Or in the Northwest, "Sup?!"

This is Matthew Palmer writing to you from the beautiful NW region of Woodinville, WA. Right now it's 65 degrees and partly cloudy (just the way I like it). I must say, I do miss everyone down in SIBI; I hope all of you are doing well (my family and I are continuing to pray for the alumni and faculty every Monday). Sometimes, I wake up and I have the sweats because I feel like I missed an assignment or something.

My family is great! Kristie feels at home again. We temporarily live with her cousin who owns an acre and a large house. Currently, there are 5 adults and 8 children living under one roof. If you're silent enough, you can hear the house sigh at night sometimes. Oh, and there are 2 dogs and 2 rabbits in the house, and a wild cougar that is roaming the neighborhood. Who would have thought that? The accommodations are small, but the Lord has provided for us while staying there - it has truly been a blessing.

Burning Heart Bible Studies (June 7 Seminar, San Antonio)

Burning Heart Bible Studies

I have been informed that some of you are traveling quite some distance to attend the “Walking with Jesus: The Road to Glory” seminar in San Antonio the weekend of June 7-8.  The attached map will help you with directions within the city.

The Alamo City Church of Christ is hosting the seminar.  Their building is located at 3201 S. Gevers Ave.  Slightly east of the I-37/Hwy 281 intersection, take the Gevers Ave. exit.  Turn south onto Gevers.  Drive 14 blocks and you will see the building on the right, just after the “Taco Haven” restaurant.

Continue reading below for additional schedule information.  I am looking forward to seeing you there!

Meeting Ilina

Greetings. We had a great time of study, fellowship and reunion at our leadership seminar today! The UBI classroom was filled with graduates, students and local Christians for our time of fellowship together. Pictured above is Robert Waller teaching those in attendance about the need for servant leadership. Natasha Maluga is pictured doing her usual excellent job of interpreting. It was so great to see these former students and see that they are still faithfully serving in the Kingdom!

Relocation for Brian & Melissa King

Melissa called last night to say they arrived safely in Fredericksburg, Virginia. They got there around 3 in the afternoon. They filled out the paperwork at their first choice of apartments and received a phone call about an hour later to say they were approved! The pod is supposed to arrive by the end of this week so they hope to move in on Monday.

Recovering Legalists

I've heard the phrase a few times here lately about being a recovering legalist. I have to smile a bit when I hear this because I know that is what I am. Can you imagine in the same way that AA and other types of recovery meetings take place that one would be held for recovering legalists.

Newsletter from Clint and Sara Howard

Spring is an interesting season here in Kansas. We are supposed to have overnight lows below freezing tomorrow night with daytime highs in the 50s, even though we have had several days of 70s and even low 80s already this year. Severe storms passed through the area in the last couple weeks, and it hasn’t been that long since we last saw snow. We have had rain and a little flooding, which makes everyone tense after last year’s 100 - year flood.

Building and Maintaining Healthy Leader Relationships In The Church

Dear friends,
On March 18 I will be guiding a discussion at our local Mens'/Preachers' Meeting here in Columbia, SC. The topic I'm going to address is "Building and Maintaining Healthy Leader Relationships In The Church". I am asking for input from former and present elders, preachers, their wives and some others in the church. All input used will be anonymous. I value your participation in this study. I will be happy to send a copy of the final result to any that would like it in a Word attachment.
