A Word with Unjustified Power

This article was aggregated from Dwight Whitsett - Whitticisms.
A certain well-known radio commentator recently referred to a word which I am absolutely terrified to mention and got in mucho hot water for it. They call it the “N-word.” It has become more taboo than the “F-word,” which was, at one time, strictly forbidden, but now is widely accepted and can be heard in its un-retouched form in the material of stand-up comics, vice presidents and motion pictures acceptable for thirteen-year-olds to watch. In fact, given an ultimatum to use the F-word or the N-word or be tortured, I would choose the former. To use the N-word will get you messed-up real bad.
Mission Indonesia July 2010
Posted August 19th, 2010 by Winston BoltDear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The attachment is a report for the month of July.
I recently arrived in the States and after resting up from the jetlag I am now heading out to give reports of the work to all the partners in Mission Indonesia. I have a limited time in the States this year so I am trying to make the most of my time by filling up my schedule. If you would like to have me come by to give a report please let me know when it would be possible. My schedule at this moment is Houston TX Aug. 29th, and Dallas TX Oct. 10th, 14th. I am also seeking new partners for the work as the work continues to progress to the point where we have exceeded the available funding. I will be in the West through Oct. 14th and then head back East until I leave on November 4th. I am willing to go just about anywhere if the churches feel that they might be interested in our efforts to take the gospel to all of Indonesia. Thank you and God bless.
Your servant in Christ,
Dr. Winston Bolt
THE MEANING OF THE TOMB

This article was aggregated from Dwight Whitsett - Whitticisms.
Mark the 16th chapter begins like this:
After the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices to go and anoint the body of Jesus. Very early on Sunday morning, at sunrise, they went to the tomb. On the way they said to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” (It was a very large stone.) Then they looked up and saw that the stone had already been rolled back. So they entered the tomb, where they saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe — and they were alarmed.
Date Night

This article was aggregated from Dwight Whitsett - Whitticisms.
My wife, visiting granddaughter and I just finished watching the much-heralded motion picture, Date Night starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey on our cable service. Okay, we’re cheap. It was rated PG13 which means that it may be inappropriate for children younger than 13 and even that should involve parental guidance. Well, I am in my late 60’s and it was certainly inappropriate for me. But then again, I have morals.
When did this culture decide that comedy had to be filthy? This could have been an adventure in hilarity without the continual obscenities and references to male and female genitalia, anal sex, masturbation, group sex and prostitution. These were not sexual innuendos, they were explicit references. We tried to fast-forward through the sullied parts but it was so replete with smut that we were not completely successful.

Mission Indonesia June 2010 report
Posted July 13th, 2010 by Winston BoltDear Brethren,
The attachment is the June report for Batam Bible College and Mission Indonesia. With the training of competent men to preach and proclaim the gospel of Christ the Lord opens the doors to do just that.
I will be returning to the States in August to raise funds for the school and my own salary. I was informed in April that there were insufficient funds for the school. This resulted in deferring my salary to make sure that there were sufficient funds to cover the operation of the school.
I need your help to reach out to new congregations who might be interested in being partners with us. Emails, phone calls, and even going in person have little affect as most congregations are swamped with appeals. I need your help to open the doors to the elders and mission committees. Please contact anyone you can and ask if I could give them a presentation. I will send the July report after arriving in the States when I have a cell phone number so you can contact me. Thank you and I pray that you have been blessed by participating in taking the gospel of Christ to Indonesia.
Your servant in Christ,
Dr. Winston Bolt
Two Stories of Sunset's Impact on Lives

I want to share with you one story of how God is changing lives through ministry training. Joe Carrasco’s life was in shambles. Joe’s wife had abandoned him and his two sons, they lived in a sparse home with no electricity, he was in violation of probation, and a warrant had been issued for his arrest. Joe was a drug dealer and addict. He considered that his best option was to leave his two sons with family members and flee to Dallas to hide from authorities. It was at this low point in his life that Joe Carrasco met Mike Reed, a Sunset trained preacher serving in the small West Texas town of Olton.
Haiti Report
Posted June 10th, 2010 by Tim BurowDear Co-laborers for the aid of Haiti,
It continues to be our privilege at Sunset to be partnering with you in ministry to the people of Haiti. Because of your love for the Lord and your mercy toward those who are hurting, we have been able to continue our efforts to relieve the suffering of those affected by the Port au Prince earthquake. Your participation in this ministry is a great encouragement to us and to those receiving aid. God be praised for His work in and through you.
As of this writing, we have spent more than $136,000 and expect to disburse even more in the near future. May our Lord be glorified by these expenditures!
The Haitian Relief Fund continues to offer the best possible help to those who need it most. We seek to use all the wisdom God has assigned us to faithfully steward His resources. We also want to be good stewards who bring you up to date on how the funds are being disbursed.
