Director of NIATS in Nigeria

Dear Brethren,
Your prayers are needed. Jacob Achinefu, the Director of the Nigerian Institute for the Arts and Theological Studies our SIBI associate school in Nigeria, was kidnapped and is being held for ransom. Jacob lives and works on the same compound as Dr Bob Whitaker who was kidnapped earlier and they suspect that it may be the same group of kidnappers. Jacob and the NIATS van were taken while he was on the road to Aba, Nigeria. No demands have been given yet, and I will update you as I know more. Jacob is a faithful preacher, a capable leader and a faithful husband and father of 8. He is also a good friend and co-worker. Kidnappings and tensions have escalated again in this region of Nigeria and prayers are needed for the Christian of Nigeria. I will relay more information as I receive it. Please pray for Jacob and the Achinefu family.
In Him,
Chris

Batam Bible College report, Feb. 2010
Posted March 3rd, 2010 by Winston BoltDear Brethren,
The attached PDF file is a short report on a very significant event at Batam Bible College. As we continue to train men and send them out, they in turn call others to Christ, plant churches and send others back to Batam Bible College for the cycle to continue. I pray what you see from this report will be a blessing to all who support the school and church planting through out all of Indonesia.
Your servant in Christ

MARK HOOPER AND PHIL JACKSON AT SIBI SINGAPORE
We are grateful to Mark Hooper and Phil Jackson from Mission Resource Network (MRN) for conducting a Church Planting Seminar for our mission intern students and SIBI Singapore regular students. There were also students from China in their sessions. This seminar can be conducted in a week’s time and would be of great benefit to churches and missionaries wanting to make a difference in Asia (or anywhere for that matter). Mark Hooper is the MRN representative for Asia and Phil Jackson is the MRN representative for Europe. Both of these men would be happy to answer any questions you might have.
Update report from Ethiopia
Posted February 22nd, 2010 by Sunset AlumniDear Brethren
Greetings!
I just got back from a six weeks trip to Ethiopia. It was a very productive and successful trip. I was able to travel to the countryside to see the newly planted congregations, conduct leadership workshop, talk to the deaf and KG teachers, visit some of the newly installed water wells and able to clear out the rig and other shipments sent by Healing Hands International. Everything went well and good.
Update report of my trip to Ethiopia.
Left to Ethiopia: Jan. 11, 10
Return: Feb. 16, 10 (six weeks trip)
I. Baptismal Report: Feb. 17, 2010

Haiti Report Four - Tim Burow
Posted February 19th, 2010 by Tim BurowI continue to be thankful for the opportunity to minister to the needs of people in Haiti. The need is overwhelming and resources insufficient for all that could be done. What we have we are using, and people are so very thankful for anything that we offer. It is hard to describe the devastation that has come into these people’s lives. They have endured so much, and yet they are unbroken. They are a remarkable people.

Live Your Adventure

This article was aggregated from Dwight Whitsett - Whitticisms.
High adventure was on my young index of dreams. As it turns out, my adventures have been mild ones. I never did become an explorer, sailor, naturalist, anthropologist, spelunker, diver, paleontologist, prospector, or performer. As a young boy I avidly read about the adventures of men like Thor Heyerdahl and William Beebe. Beebe was an ornithologist, explorer, and author. He was an early ecologist. He made a record-breaking dive in a bathysphere to a depth of 3,028 ft in 1934. He lived the adventures of my dreams.
Recently, I ran across a piece written by him in his old age. It’s good advice for all adventurers, young and old.
What I Would Do

I should make me a list of a few things to do before I die:
Haiti Report Three - Tim Burow
Posted February 18th, 2010 by Tim BurowMonday morning came early as we arose at 3:30 for our drive to Port au Prince. We were able to secure a box truck, for security reasons, to take us and the food we had purchased. The tons of rice and beans we had acquired fit very well in the 20 foot cargo area. There were, however, six of us in the cab. The trip took about eight and a half hours. Portions of the road are good and afford a steady speed, but most is gravel wash-board and filled with “cauldron holes,” my word for bigger than pot-holes. It was pretty rough. This is the main highway from the north. Many have wondered why more aid isn’t flown in to Cap Haitian and then transported to the south. This is one of the reasons; it’s impractical.
