He had fond memories of the early days of SSOP and considered it a blessing to have been part of them.

Dear Brockman Family,

I am so sorry to hear of the death of my old and dear friend, Byrl.  Though a victory for him, it is a great loss to our brotherhood, especially among our Hispanic congregations.  Your parents were very dear to me, having worked together at the old Eastside congregation in 1966-67, working mainly among Spanish speaking kids that we contacted at a mission VBS we conducted in that area.  Those of us who were students at SSOP during those early years remember Byrl’s servant spirit, his strong Biblical teaching and his love for Spanish speaking people who needed Jesus in their lives.  He will be remembered around here as the first full time teacher at Sunset, as a great missionary to Panama and other Spanish speaking nations and as one who has left a legacy of preacher training that literally circles the globe.  Because the funeral service coincides with our graduation weekend, I will be unable to attend the services but otherwise would certainly make plans to be with you.  May our God bless your family with comfort in Christ and with wonderful memories of a great patriach.

In Christian Love and Peace,

Truitt Adair, President
