Hello from Lubbock

Hello everyone, Hope your Thanksgiving holiday was good to you! The AIM class just returned from the break which was nice. It was nearly 80 degrees over the break and then in the 20's after they got back to Lubbock! Wow, it's already December. As you know that means that team announcements are just around the corner. I think the class is super ready to find out what the teams will be. Keep them in your prayers over the next few weeks as final decisions are made and then ultimately the announcements. Graduation for the 2012 AIM class will be on March 7th. Re-entry will start a few days earlier so for the 2012 class ... please make it a priority to be here from March 4th - the 7th. It will be a good time for you to reconnect with your classmates as well as gain some valuable information and help through our re-entry program. I do need your input as to who you would like to nominate for your graduation banquet speaker? Typically in the past each class has chosen one of their instructors to speak at the banquet. I need for as many of you as possible to email us with your suggestions. If you remember that a few years ago a new program started in Joao Pessoa, Brazil very similar to AIM called AME. We had been sending AIM students there for a number of years and as a result a number of Brazilian youth ended up coming through AIM. The missionaries in Joao Pessoa finally decided to begin their own program like AIM right there in Brazil. Two years ago I was able to go and visit the first group of students and see the program for myself and it was very exciting. This coming March, just one week after our own AIM graduation, the AME program will be having their own graduation of their first class who will have just finished their field commitments. I am going to try to raise some travel funds so that I can join them at their graduation and be a part of such an exciting, historical event. It will also be good to see the current AIM team who are serving in Brazil and see what God is doing through them there! Can't wait! BROWNBAG!!! We would love to see more current AIM students (or ex-aimers) sending in Brownbag letters so we can read them to the class on Wednesdays. I believe they are important to the students to get a more realistic view of AIM field life as they hear about your ups and downs. You are able to encourage and teach them through your prayer requests, your cultural mistakes and the lessons you learn. It encourages all of us as we also hear your growth through spiritual lessons you experience, even as you go through both exciting and rugged times. So, please take the time to write out a brownbag often and let us hear how you are and what God is up to where you are working. Keep us all in your prayers over the next few weeks. Before long it will be time for the nice, long Christmas break and then ... Mission Term! AIMing with you, Kris Smith
