March Update - Lee Skelton
Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
We want to thank everyone for their prayers as we traveled back to Romania. To hear more about our journey visit my wife's blog at www.skeltonfamilyadventures.blogspot.com
The adjustment of setting our internal clocks forward eight hours to Romania time is almost complete. We are back in the full swing of things once more.
One of the reasons for this update is to share with you how God is blessing the work in Sibiu. We have emphasized the importance of the members getting involved in the Lord's work. This has become evident during our absence when we were in the states. Ana Maria was baptized into Christ on Sunday, February 15th. This Junior university student has been in our thoughts and prayers for some time now. Please pray for her as she continues to grow in the knowledge and grace of our Lord. Pray that her faith be strengthened and that the Church can be a source of encouragement as she begins her walk with the Lord. In addition to the baptism the members have been doing some visitation, planning an upcoming lock-in, as well as continuing to meet for worship.
We are excited about what 2009 will bring in terms of church growth. Here are a few other specific things I ask that you bring before our heavenly Father in prayer:
1. Our time with Ryan Bunge
Ryan wants to come and work as a part of our missionary team in Sibiu. Ryan and I are
working together during the month of March to discuss his future role in
the work in Sibiu. Ryan has a working knowledge of sign language and has been going
to the local deaf school to work with the professors and young people. There are
approximately fifty kids in the school. The professors are excited to have him there.
One of the teachers has indicated that he would like to study with us. Please pray
for this new avenue of outreach into Sibiu, Romania. Please pray for Ryan as he
continues to raise his support. He wants to join us full time by the month of
September. Please pray for him and that God will send congregations and individuals
his way to partner with him so he can join in the Lord's work in Sibiu.
2. Lock- In
This will be happening during the second week in April. Please pray for a successful
turnout from congregations we will be inviting to Sibiu. Pray that Christians will be
encouraged and those who are considering obeying the Gospel will take one step closer
through this activity. At the present time ten of our members have committed to going
to a lock in at the end of the month in Oradea. Please pray for us as we travel and that
our congregation will grow spiritually as a result of our members participation.
3. Vacation Bible School
Please pray that we will find enough teachers to come. We have eleven but would like
at least four more. Contact Michael Elrod at the Ovilla Church of Christ if you think you
may be interested in coming this summer.
4. WEI Campaign
We are planning to have a campaign beginning in June. Please pray that we find the
teachers necessary to conduct this beneficial outreach.
5. School teacher
One of our members is considering working with my wife full time in the school
instruction of our children. Please pray for her as she decides what role she will play
in this important avenue of service.
6. Bible Studies
We are starting our studies up again with our students. It is a special joy because
many of them have been visiting with their friends. The result we have several new
studies that we will begin this month. Please pray for the open hearts and minds of
these individuals as they come to know more about the Word of the Lord.
I hope all is well with you and your family. Thank you for your continued prayers and support of my family and the work we are endeavoring to do in Sibiu.
In Christian love,
Lee Skelton
