LCC SEMESTRAL BREAK
My family and I are so glad to be back from our trip to Mindanao to visit my father and younger siblings. They were so happy to see our little girls although they were having difficulty in communicating with them as Alet and Margaret are still adjusting to our native language. It was our first time as a family to visit my hometown since we came home from the US. Alet was still an infant when we left our country and it was their first time to see Margaret who was born in the US. We were able to visit some relatives and I was sad to see my aunt lying sick in bed. I used to stay with them during my elementary and high school years. She is a member of the church and was instrumental in my conversion to Christ. Everything went well with our trip except that at some point we were afraid to be stranded in the ferry terminal because of the bad weather we have been experiencing since mid October. The rainy season has started and several typhoons have come and go since we arrived. Part of our trip to Mindanao was the wedding of my long‐time preacher friend Jonahdee de la Cruz who used to work with the Tacloban church. He is a very hardworking fellow and it was a great joy for me to give an encouraging message from the scriptures on his wedding day. I was supposed to be one of the officiating ministers on his wedding but having been out of the country for almost three years, I was not able to renew my license to solemnize marriages. Just a couple of months ago, I was also requested to officiate a wedding in the small town of Mahalit. I did the ceremony and message and another preacher signed the marriage contract.
