After visiting with my in-laws a couple of weeks ago, my wife suggested that it would really be a nice thing if we updated the people that supported us through school with what we are doing. What a great idea. I have been out of school for 10 years and have been working at various jobs involved in various ministries. So what are those that supported me through one of the most important times in my left? We have come in contact with many, since most were from our home congregation, but there are some that aren't.

Just a reminder to all alumni that we still remember you in chapel. We remember so many that have been and are a part of Sunset that are out teaching and preaching and doing the work they have been trained to do.
If you have time, I would encourage you to listen to this morning's chapel. Bill Tracy taught on the "Heart for the Lost". May it encourage each of you as it did us here. Heart for the Lost

The deacon at the Pasir Panjang congregation who serves as the liason for our Branch School in Singapore posted a number of pictures of Gerald and the Sacrificial System course he taught during July. How wonderful it is that our faculty are able to spread the teaching of the Gospel worldwide. Photos of Gerald in Singapore

This was a presentation in chapel back in December by Monty Pettyjohn ('92) and Pat Sheaffer ('94). They performed a skit by Greg Baggs, Brent Hanson, Keith Jackson and Shannon Smeya. It is very humorous and I think many of you with mission experience will enjoy it. Even if you don't have mission experience, you'll enjoy it. Its around 30 minutes, but its much better than any show you'd find on TV.

Most of you who have an email account and have much experience with the internet know there are a lot of scams out there to steal your money and your identity. We have just received word that there is one of which we here are taking notice.
Apparently there is a scam directed at preacher's looking for jobs. The scam is an advertisement for a position, probably in a foreign country. When the applicant responds to the ad they receive a questionnaire that asks some strange questions that are more personal in nature than most questionnaires. Beware of any attempt and be sure to find out if it is a legitimate church and that they do have a position available before you start sending information.
If you need help finding out about the integrity of an ad from a church, feel free to contact us here at Sunset.

Homecoming 2008 was truly wonderful. It was great to see Alumni from the past 40 years coming and sharing. There were stories of friends that hadn't seen each other in decades reuniting and encouraging each other. Many were renewed to keep standing strong and to Live the Legacy that has been left to us by the school's founder, our beloved Cline Paden.
(Images from Homecoming 2008. If you attended homecoming and have pictures, please share them with us so we can be encouraged, as well as those who were not able to come. See the Image Gallery block on the left of the screen.)
We were encouraged by all those that came and Preached the WORD. Those sermons are available for downloadand through the podcast. If you are an alumnus of SIBI/SSOP/WFR or just need some good encouragement from preaching, I highly recommend all 7 lessons: The Heart of the Gray Eagle (Truman Scott), A Heart for the Word of God (Dayton Keesee), A Heart for the Lord's Church (Royce Sartain), A Heart for Local Evangelism (Ted Kell), A Heart for World Missions (Tex Williams), A Heart for the Future of Sunset (Truitt Adair), and our Victory Celebration speaker Dr. Lynn McMillon from the Christian Chronicle.
